Leonn Meade
Director
40 years in the game? What!! It’s been a lifelong journey and some what a lifelong commitment to the cause. Even before I knew it. From the little boy following the steps of Bazil Meade and Andrea Encinas learning and absorbing all I could about the art, the movement, the community, the music. Gospel wasn’t just about the ears, wasn’t just about the performance. It was and still is about the heart. It’s the way we all felt after being soaked in its power. It is what we did with that transmitted energy that set “Gospel Music” apart. it was cosmic, love and inspiration.
Help the weak, feed the poor, love thy neighbour, be the good. It’s residue from the concert last night. I saw, heard, and felt that every day. Choir rehearsal, my dad bashing the piano in the living room, gigs, tours, studio session. I was there.
A list B list C list, I saw them all and watched their eyes beam with joy when LCGC blessed their music with a unique Gospel blend of flavour and passion.
It moulded me, shaped me, readied me then set me on my way. I’m grateful to have been given so much. It took me around the world and beyond. My given talents and experience lead me on to great things. Touring as a drummer with superstar bands, writing, recording, and producing music in infamous studios, supervising and orchestrating musical theatre. It has been a journey.
Now the flame has passed on from father to son to continue the legacy of LCGC. We forever evolve, we forever are renewed but our heart will never change. Out of many one voice.
